Dan Szyller is an emerging independent singer, songwriter and guitarist making his professional solo recording debut in 2022. An international talent, Szyller was born in Brazil. He would eventually travel the world, living at times in the United States and Israel, before settling in Metz, France.
As a child in Sao Paulo, Dan Szyller developed an early and deep love for music. His collection of classic rock heroes like the Doors, King Crimson and Pink Floyd traveled with him as he wandered the globe. He wrote a lot of songs along the way and is now beginning to share them with the world.
The Celestial Immigrant is the debut album from Dan Szyller, released worldwide via all major streaming services on July 20, 2022. The seven-song collection takes listeners on a lo-fi sci-fi interstellar journey. Our trip is fueled by an organic mix of classic and progressive rock psychedelia and a healthy dose of blues-infused acid rock guitar.
The record opens with the deep space melancholy of the Bowie-meets-Barrett title track. Electric guitars, organ, bass and drums create an expansive analog wall of sound. Lyrically the album turns to more personal matters of the heart on tracks like the dark guitar-driven “My Road” and “Summer Kiss”. On the latter track, Szyller pairs a theatrical Jim Morrison vibe with his signature space rock sound.
The album marries the realms of art-rock and dark-wave on tracks like “The Believer” and “King’s Hall”. Dan drops some Nick Cave-style fire and brimstone along with a healthy dose of King Crimson fantasy/drama. We return to space for the excellent Pink Floyd indie-space-pop “Sunday Again”, which ends on a fabulous “Third Stone from the Sun” inspired jam. As the record closes we find ourselves breaching the edge of the solar system on the beautiful psychedelic instrumental “Interstellar (Voyager 1)”.
