SQRRL! – Inspiring Family Friendly Indie-Pop

SQRRL

SQRRL! is the brainchild of veteran singer/songwriter Doug Segree. A native of Annapolis, Maryland, for the better part of the last three decades Segree has worked as a full time recording artist and live performer. In that time he has released six solo albums. His music has appeared in numerous major network television and film productions including; Netflix’s All American, ABC’s Cougartown, TNT’s Rizzoli and Isles and many more.

The father of three would often write songs to entertain his kids. He eventually amassed a complete repertoire of wholesome, positive and imaginative songs. In 2016 he contacted his friend, Grammy winning producer and songwriter Rich Jacques, and the two hit the studio. SQRRL! was born.

Since then, the team has recorded three albums and even a Christmas EP. The band’s ranks have expanded to include Karla Chisholm (vocals, keys, tambourine),  Dana Biagini (bass and vocals) and Gabe Staznick (drums). Doug Segree hands vocals, guitar, ukulele and kazoo duties. Their live show features a cast of characters including; Daisy SQRRL, Aunt Vicki, and Eddie the Elf.

“For Always” is the current single from Wonder, the brand new album from SQRRL! released worldwide via all major streaming services on October 14, 2022. An infectiously catchy little indie-pop nugget, the song has an upbeat feel and empowering message that will appeal to kids of any age. Doug’s ukulele rides a cool mix of hand percussion and electronic arpeggios as he steps to the mic for a sweet as sugar ‘you got this, and I got you.’ Ambient synths and ethereal vocal harmonies create a dreamy backdrop for the inspirational tune.

"Take my hand. I'll be there, pinky swear... for always."
