Ex Dont Flex is an emerging independent hip-hop artist who is making his professional solo recording debut in 2022. An active duty member of the United States military, the Georgia native comes from a long musical legacy. Both his father and grandfather worked as DJs. Young Flex would often tag alone to help out at gigs.
As he was coming up, and developing his style, the young rapper would often freestyle for his friends in school. After school he played drums in both church and the school marching band. Ex Dont Flex is also an avid gamer and Twitch streamer. His large online following inspired him to more seriously pursue his music.
“I am The Flex” is the debut EP from Ex Dont Flex, released worldwide via all major streaming services on September 9, 2022. The four-track collection is a groovy ride, adorned by shades of r&b, trap, synthwave and old-school hip-hop. The record opens with “Sasuke (Rotten)” a nod to the rapper’s love for anime. He’s joined on the track by rapper Addys Truth.
Throughout the record, Ex Dont Flex layers deep synthwave vibes with cinematic strings over slow and low 808 beats. He drops an impressive rapid-fire freestyle on “Big Worm” before digging into relationship trouble and chill 80s vibes on “Is This What You Want. The record closes on “Toxically Single”, an ode to the players served with a healthy dose of boy-band love.
