Goldrush is the brand new collaborative project from EDM producer Jeff Rush and his muse, Lila Gold. He is a veteran electronic artist and DJ from Philadelphia. She, a native of Odessa, Ukraine. They began as a fictional Russian pop duo, created on a whim via a TikTok video. Two years later, the fantasy became reality when the group dropped their killer new debut.
We first heard from Jeff Rush in November of 2021 upon the release of his single “Ibiza Sunrise“. That track introduced readers of The Static Dive to a veteran DJ, EDM producer and songwriter. He started his career as a teeanger in the 1970s, behind the decks at underground raves in his native Philadelphia. In the decades since those seminal gigs, Rush has worked in studios and clubs around the world. His career has followed the many permutations of dance music over the past four decades.
“Moscow Mule ” is the brand single from Goldrush, released worldwide via all major streaming services on October 31, 2022. Named for the famous drink which nobody drinks in Russia (according to Lila), the track is a hard techno fueled House banger.
A four on the floor beat drives the track as a deep sawtooth bass lays down the song’s infectious hook. Analog synths play hypnotic Eastern European-inspired melodies over a classic House jam. When the duo knew they had a banger as soon as they finished the tune. However, concerns about the war in Ukraine kept it out of the clubs for awhile.
