We first heard from 3Hands4Milo in August of last year upon the release of the Mindy Amelotte collaboration “Chrysalis“. That record introduced us to Alex Parker, a Canadian songwriter, composer and producer who specializes in experimental electronic music. The Ottawa native has a sound inspired by the alt-electronic pioneers of the 70s and 80s.
In recent years, Parker has released a series of singles and EPs as 3Hands4Milo. His music is often instrumental, but not always. Aside from the aforementioned collab, Alex usually works alone as builds his interstellar soundscapes. This is digital music, but with an analog heartbeat. Alex works in psychedelic scenes and visceral dreams.
“The Edge of Underground ” is the latest from 3Hands4Milo, released worldwide via all major streaming services on October 20, 2022. The track is the first single from his forthcoming new EP. Hypnotic percussion and ethereal synths introduce the tune. Soon ambient keys a deep and pulsing sawtooth bass enter the mix.
Psychedelic effects, haunting vocals and esoteric lyrics create a trippy hypnagogic vibe. It is a dreamy sound that lands somewhere between Peter Gabriel, Love and Rockets and Pink Floyd. That’s pretty good company to keep.
