We first heard from Kensei in October upon the release of his single “Like I Do“. That track introduced The Static Dive readers to emerging independent singer/songwriter Tiyler Terrill Harris. Still only 16 years-old, the multitalented artist launched his music career two years ago.
A native of Memphis, Tennessee, Kensei made his professional solo recording debut in 2020 with the single “alone.” In the two years since, the prolific producer has released eight singles and three full length albums. He cites emo trap and alt/hip-hop pioneers like Lil Peep, XXXTENTACION, and Joji as major influences. Like his heroes, Kensei creates melancholy genre-fluid moods with deeply personal and emotional lyrics.
“A Dead Man’s Tale” is the brand new song from Kensei, released worldwide via all major streaming services on November 11, 2022. Accompanied by a single lo-fi acoustic guitar, the singer delivers a heartbroken torch song. He tells a tale of anxiety, heartache and despair in a soulful and sorrowful descending minor-key indie-pop melody.
