Det Metra are an emerging independent indie rock band from Chicago, Illinois. They made their professional recording debut in 2021 with the single “I’ll Do Anything”. That record introduced a groovy alternative rock outfit with a loose, lo-fi sound inspired by the great proto-punk and garage rock of decades past.
The quintet consists of Connor (bass/guitar/vocals), Kelly (guitar/vocals), Dave (bass/guitar/vocals), Dom (Drums) and Mike (vocals). Each member played in a series of Chi-town bands before launching Det Metra. Since their debut, the prolific rockers have dropped five singles and connect with rock fans around the world. Their latest single is already their most successful to date.
“Basement Coke ” is the brand new single from Det Metra, released worldwide via all major streaming services on October 22, 2022. The track rolls on an infectious guitar-driven groove. The lead singer steps to the mic and delivers a sardonic takedown of a friend lost in the haze of addiction. Stylistically the sound lives somewhere between The Strokes, The Stooges and Stan Ridgeway’s Wall of Voodoo. That’s a pretty cool neighborhood.
