Foolman’s New Prog-Rock Peacemaker

foolman

Foolman is the professional name of multi-instrumentalist composer and producer, Fred Michael Grenier. The Canadian musician debuted his project in February 2021 with the five-song EP Fake Art. That record introduced a talented Montreal native with metal-infused and musically sophisticated prog-rock sound.

Fred Michael Grenier began playing drums at an early age. In his teen years he became interested in composing for other instruments as well. Michael composes all of Foolman’s music. In the studio he plays the drums and recruits the talents of Jacques Roy (bass) and Dimitri Lebel-Alexandre (guitar) to perform the other parts he has composed.

“Peacemaker” is the brand new single from Foolman, released worldwide via all major streaming services on November 24, 2022. The track opens on a funky groove metal riff before the beat drops on a mid-tempo rock march. Psychedelic guitar and vocal effects create a trippy scene. The singer steps to the mic to deliver his hypnotic rhythmic manifesto.

As the song progresses we move through waves of virtuosic syncopated prog-rock. Unconventional time signatures and creative tempo shifts are all part of the song’s deep musical sophistication. On the track, Grenier pairs the alt-metal psychological drama of Tool with the musical chops of 70’s rock icons like Rush and Yes.
