Chester Doom’s High-Octane Anxiety

chester doom

Chester Doom are an emerging independent active rock band who made their international professional recording debut in 2022 with the eight song EP Masks. That record introduced a new group from Nova Scotia, Canada with a guitar-driven sound built on decades of rock & roll. Their hard-rocking sextet were raised on classic and modern rock radio.

The band consists of singer/songwriter Josh Best, rhythm guitarist/composer Patrick Blackie, lead guitarist Kellan Menhennett, keyboardist Dave Mackenzie and a rhythm section comprised of brothers Glenn Arseneau (bass) and Peter Arseneau (drums). The group came together in their current incarnation back in 2020 when Best completed the line-up. The prolific crew recently dropped a new single, just five months after their debut.

“Anxiety” is the brand new single from Chester Doom, released worldwide via all major streaming services on November 25, 2022. The song opens on an anthemic rock intro before the guitar kicks off an upbeat riff-rock groove. Vocalist Josh Best steps to the mic with a hard rock soliloquy on mental health, delivered in a radio-ready rock howl that lands somewhere between Geddy Lee and Bruce Dickinson. The band expertly maneuvers through the song’s many moods, including a nice swamp-rock jam in the bridge.
