Echo Strike is an internationally known independent pop/rock band who made their professional recording debut in 2019 with the album Honest Lies. Originally formed as a trio featuring band leader Randy Van Gelder, guitarist Beau Newlin, and producer Jonathan Broussard, the group eventually expanded its ranks to include members Home, Juan Zeta, John Peace, and Giu.
With connections to both the United States and South America, the band has traveled the world with their unique, genre-bending sound. Since their debut, the prolific rockers have amassed an impressive volume of work. In just three years they have released four full length albums and a string of singles. They have connected with hundreds of thousands of fans around the world thanks to hits like “Catch Me” and “Like Candy”.
Can’t Do Anything Right is the latest album from Echo Strike, released worldwide via all major streaming services on August 3, 2022. The 14-song collection is a showcase for the group’s genre-fluid sound. From the bluesy singer/songwriter americana of the title-track opener to the introspective dark-pop of songs like “Hollow” and “Reset My Soul”, the band takes us on an emotional ride.
Along the way they touch on musical themes and styles from across the decades of popular music. They lay down 80’s alt-pop vibes on tracks like “Good as Gone” and electro-pop infused tracks like “Hello” and “Come Away With Me”. They even drop a bit of hip-hop on the environmentally conscious “Open the Door”.
Lyrically the band explores the highs and lows of interpersonal relationships. Melancholy meditations like “Dagger” and “Maze of Doubt” chronicle the pain of a romantic split. However, we don’t stay down long. Echo Strike infuses songs like “Have Fun” and “Never Too Late” with healthy doses of Nile Rodgers-style guitar and funk beats.
