J is an emerging independent electronic music producer who made his professional solo recording debut in 2022 with the six-song EP Dice. That record introduced a talented composer with a sound that pairs classic synth tones with modern pop, hip-hop and EDM. A native of the south of France, growing up on the French Riviera the young artist listened to old-school American hip-hop.
In 2019 J discovered FL Studio and began producing electronic music. Drawn to the popular synthwave movement, he was drawn to retro vibes of the modern synthwave movement. On his debut EP he married the old and new to create a unique and infectious instrumental vibe.
“On a Trip” is the brand new single from J, released worldwide via all major streaming services on December 26, 2022. A collaboration with French/English emcee Itsimpatient, the song is the producer’s first with vocals. Ambient keys introduce the track with big analog sawtooth synthwave vibes. Soon the beat drops on a slow synthwave/dubstep funk. On the mic, the rapper delivers a verbose lyrical freestyle about a mysterious woman.
