Carl Adams is an emerging independent recording artist and producer who made his professional solo recording debut in 2019 with the album Disremembered. The record was a collection of original classical compositions. It introduced a multi-talented, multi-instrumentalist and genre-fluid composer.
Since his debut, the prolific producer has released a dozen singles and two EPs. Untethered by genre or any other classification, he has experimented with a broad range of genres from electronic (“Irresolute”), to cinematic (“The End of My Pain”), and even hip-hop (“The Beauty of Sight”). On his latest release, Adams digs into a moody synthwave groove.
“Disentranced” is the brand new EP from Carl Adams, released worldwide via all major streaming services on January 13, 2023. The three song collection is an emotional instrumental journey. With a dose of trap and plenty of 80s-inspired synths, the musician cracks his own hard shell.

The record opens on “The Ideal & the Initiative”. Ambient synths and tubular bells set an dreamy and slightly melancholy scene. Soon the beat drops on a mid-tempo, minor-key funk that brings to mind some of Alan Parsons’ Stereotomy-era solo work. “Imperfect Sutures” follows with a groovy 8-bit hip-hop funk.
“An Eternal Reprieve” closes the set. Percussive arpeggios open the track with a modern island-pop vibe. Soon a pair of sawtooth synths and a lo-fi beat add a nice retro vibe. As the song progresses we move through ever-changing koto-infused syncopated rhythms and melodic phrases.
