Carnate_X is an emerging independent singer, songwriter and producer from northern Utah. He made his professional solo recording debut in 2021 with the single “In The Dark”. That track introduced a multi-talented and versatile vocalist with an experimental electronic production style.
His genre-fluid approach mixes elements of progressive rock, experimental pop and hip-hop into a musically and emotionally complex new vibe. Since his debut, the prolific producer has released a total of seven singles. With each new track he further refines and defines his sound.
“Reflections” is the latest single from Carnate_X, released worldwide via all major streaming services on January 1, 2023. A lo-fi hip-hop beat opens the track as koto samples and other percussive elements gradually enter the mix. The singer steps to the mic with an introspective meditation on freewill and self identity.
He raps and sings a syncopated and intricate melody. His mix of vocal jazz-phrasing and rapid-fire autobiographical rhymes creates a cool new sound that lands somewhere between alt/hip-hop and melodic art-pop. To keep things interesting, Carnate_X even introduces a bit of dubstep bass into the mix.
