Ozurie is an emerging independent alternative rock ensemble making their professional recording debut in 2023 with a two-song eponymous EP. The band was formed on the banks of the Columbia River in Vancouver, Washington. Their music pays homage to a sound born thirty years ago, 150 miles north of their hometown.
Built on a foundation of shoegaze and grunge, Ozurie creates lush and melodically intricate soundscapes. Their songs come in waves of long-ringing overdriven guitar chords, reverb-soaked vocals and an overall psychedelic metal vibe. It is a sound that lands stylistically somewhere between Seattle legends Soundgarden and Northeast alternative gods Dinosaur Jr. That’s a pretty cool neighborhood.
“To The Moon ” is the debut single from Ozurie, and the first song on their new EP, released worldwide via all major streaming services on January 17, 2023. A solo guitar opens the track, plucking chords in a trippy cloud of delay, chorus and distortion. Soon the beat drops on a slow, heavy and melancholy alt/metal groove. The singer steps to the mic and recites a poetic love verse in a dreamy, hypnagogic haze.
