The Modern History HSC Podcast is a project developed by Australian teacher Blake Hamilton and the students of Quirindi High School in New South Wales, Australia. The team has produced the show for over three years. On each episode, the host and guests look under the hood for a deeper dive into some greater and lesser events of the 20th century.
Hamilton explains that the show serves another purpose as well. The podcast production gives students in rural Australia access to processes, equipment and knowledge that would otherwise be unavailable. And it democratizes education, giving the students a voice.
“Just History” is the brand new theme song for the Modern History HSC Podcast. To bring a bit of international attention to their production, the Quirindi High School crew decided to release the song as a single. The track is an upbeat alt-pop nugget. On the mic, Spanish vocalist Nekane ponders the weight of history, and humanity’s ability to rise above past mistakes.
