Jenny Z is the professional name of emerging singer, rapper and songwriter Eugenia Ziss, a Montreal artist who recently dropped a brand new EP. The talented young singer made her solo professional recording debut in 2019 with the single “Silence”. That track introduced a multifaceted artist with a unique dark-pop/hip-hop vibe.
Since her debut, Jenny Z has produced four singles and the full-length 2020 album Today. The singer has connected with fans around the world thanks to popular tracks from the album like “Backseat” and “Get a Life”. Her latest release marks the her return to the international stage after a two year hiatus.
“Excitement” is the current single from Jenny Z’s EP The New Age. The six-song collection dropped worldwide via all major streaming services on December 29, 2022. The single opens the record, and sets a dramatic cinematic scene.
As the song opens, a minor-key piano, string and horn sample plays a melancholy riff in the distance. Soon the beat drops on a mid-tempo trap beat. On the mic, Eugenia slides between a soulful r&b vocal and melodic rap as she drops a stream-of-consciousness freestyle about the trials and tribulations of a young musician on the rise.
