Zay’Marie is the professional name of emerging independent recording artist, Elizabeth Marie Murray. After earning a music degree from Spelman College, the DMV native launched her solo professional recording career in 2019 with the single “Your Love”. That track introduced a talented singer/songwriter with a taste for old-school r&b vibes.
Originally from Virginia Beach and now based in Washington D.C, Zay’Marie cites iconic artists like Whitney Houston, Stevie Wonder, and Beyoncé as her inspiration. Since her debut, she has released a total of five singles. She has connected with fans worldwide thanks to popular tracks like 2022’s “Paradise” and “Vulnerable”.
“My Man” is the brand new single from Zay’Marie, released worldwide via all major streaming services on February 17, 2023. Accompanied by a slowly plucked acoustic guitar, the singer opens the track with a soulful testimony to the virtues of her man. Soon the beat drops on a mellow organic funk.
Piano, bass, strings, drums and percussion lay down a hypnotic syncopated groove. Haunting backing vocal harmonies paint the edges of the mix. On the mic, Zay’Marie delivers a beautiful performance as she celebrates her man and laments the shortcomings of his peers.
