Blueburst’s New Retro Cool ‘Vanish’

blueburst

Blueburst is the brand new musical project and brainchild of singer, songwriter and guitarist Craig Douglas. The veteran musician first made waves in the 90’s with his alt-rock band The Reach. They garnered some major label interest at the time, however fame ultimately eluded the group.

After the band broke up, Douglas took a two-decade hiatus from the music world. However, that all changed when he struck up a friendship with legendary guitarist Marty Willson-Piper (The Church, Noctorum, All About Eve). The two worked through the pandemic to revive Craig’s long-dormant songwriting and guitar chops. Soon, an album began to form and the duo hit the studio with a crack team of session musicians including drummers Michael Jerome (Better Than Ezra, Richard Thompson) & Brian Platt (The Cads), and bassist Ryan Kelly (Dayroom). Blueburst was born.

“Vanish” is the brand new single from Blueburst, released worldwide via all major streaming services on March 10, 2023. The song is the first look at the band’s forthcoming debut album. Shimmering electric guitars and analog synths expand across the horizon as the airtight rhythm section lays down a classic alt-rock groove. The track is a fantastic modern take on the 80’s UK college-rock vibe of bands like Echo and the Bunnymen and Love-era Cult. On the mic, Douglas echoes the existential ennui and of his Gen X roots.

"Why are we the ones who have to care? Why don't we just vanish in thin air?"
