ArtistNation is the new collaborative creative project from a fascinating and multifaceted DMV artist, Mahoghany. Poet, songwriter, playwright and actress, the award-winning and multi-talented artist launched her latest musical project in 2022. For two decades Mahoghany ArtistNation has been spreading positive vibes on stage, on the page and across the airwaves. A self-described “enthusiastic dreamer without apology,” her work has been recognized by fans, critics and even political leaders. Her work in all arenas promotes messages of healing, unity, tolerance and self-empowerment.
“Pretend” is the brand new single from ArtistNation, released worldwide via all major streaming services on February 15, 2023. A melodic and melancholy piano accompanies a male vocalist on this self-reflective ballad. In a deeply intimate and personal performance, the singer embarks on a journey of self-discovery as he contemplates issues of identity and self-worth. In the end he finds a pathway from depression and self-doubt to love and acceptance.
