cont4min4ted

CONT4MIN4TED is an emerging independent artist and producer making his solo professional recording debut in 2023. The Gainesville, Georgia-based musician came to electronic music production relatively recently after an early interest in guitar. He released his debut album in January, less than six months after completing his first song.

Quickly making up for lost time, the prolific producer is already working on his sophomore release. His sound is a genre-fluid mix of styles ranging from dark-pop to house music. CONT4MIN4TED‘s album “Into the Nothingness” currently has over 12,000 monthly listeners. The record has connected with electronic music fans worldwide.

“So Easy” is the current single from CONT4MIN4TED‘s debut LP, available worldwide via all major streaming services. Cinematic minor-key synths open the track on a dramatic dark pop scene. Soon the beat drops on a hypnotic downtempo electronic groove. On the mic, a female vocalist sings a sultry and emotionally complex love song.

CONT4MIN4TED - This Is The Way

SD: Where are you from?

CONT4MIN4TED: I’m native of Vietnam and currently live in Gainesville, GA. in the US.

How long have you been making music?

I’ve played a little guitar here and there but have only started getting serious with making electronic music about a year now. A friend introduced me to Logic Pro X on his MacBook and after I got one for myself I started messing around for about 15 mins here and there. It wasn’t until around August of 2022 when I wrote a complete song and got hooked!

Who are the musicians involved in your project?

I do everything on Logic by myself. I don’t sing and I don’t know anyone who does so I write songs and find vocals to fit the song and then start sculpting them together. I get vocal samples from legal sites like Splice and LoopCloud.

Who are your biggest musical influences?

Surprisingly, my biggest musical influences aren’t DJ’s or producers. They are bands like Tool, Deftones, and Killswitch Engage. I grew up listening to 80’s pop and then really got into the grunge scene with Smashing Pumpkins and Pearl Jam.

What is your greatest non-musical influence?

My greatest non musical influence is my desire and hunger to do something extraordinary with my life. I’ve always felt I’ve gotten the short end of the stick in life… then one day I woke up and realized, I’m the master of my own universe and that my circumstances are from my own doing and that if I wanted something better for myself, I have to put in the work and effort to achieve it. The universe can guide me to my deepest desires, but it is I that has to put in work and to do it relentlessly.

What inspired you to create this project?

My inspiration for this project(I would rather you not include this detail for I am a private person but I really wanted you to understand) is my recent divorce and having 2 little girls. It shook my world and turned it upside down and I was left confused, lost, empty, just every negative emotion you can think of. This goes back to me feeling like life is always shitting on me.

So this album was my healing process from everything and I’m sure I cried many tears while making it. But the album isn’t sad or depressing. It’s a culmination of everything I’ve held inside my entire life.

What are your plans for the future (musically)?

I have no plans of stopping this musical journey. After all the healing, I realized that I can’t live without making music! I love doing this and I get butterflies when I come up with new ideas and songs. When I’m not at my 9-5 job, writing songs is literally all I do. No exaggeration here! Everything I do now revolves around trying to create this art and figuring out how to get it heard.

Is there anything else you would like to say?

New album coming out in May called “This Is The Way” I’m super excited to let the world experience it!
