ImmyJ is the professional name of veteran independent hip-hop artist James Buterbaugh. The Lancaster, Pennsylvania rapper, singer and songwriter dropped his first tracks on SoundCloud over ten years ago. He made his wide-distribution solo debut in 2019 with the single “One Moment”.
The emcee got his start years before hitting the studio. He cut his teeth at battle-raps on the streets of his hometown. Eventually he decided to take it to the next level and began writing and recording his own tracks. The prolific rapper writes deeply personal narratives about the challenges in his own life, and rising above them.
“Good For Nothin” is the brand new single from ImmyJ, released worldwide via all major streaming services on March 17, 2023. The track opens with a dramatic minor-key piano. Soon the beat drops on a slow and low trap groove. On the mic, ImmyJ raps and sings an open letter to an estranged friend. The song is a bitter and wistful look back at better times as he takes his friend to task for turning his back.
