The Antarctican Drop Epic New Metal Identity Crisis “I Is The Lie”

the antarctican

The Antarctican is a five-piece ensemble from Albany, New York. The band first got together during the pandemic. Locked down and missing metal, the quintet of head-banging friends cranked their amps to eleven and started kicking out some power metal rockers.

Once the world opened up, The Antarctican took to the stage. After some line-up changes the group landed on the permanent roster of Alex Roumanidakis (vocals), Nick Giaquinto (drums), Brandon Shafer
(bass), Giulio Isopo (guitar) and Michael LeJeune (guitar). Along the way they added some death metal and a healthy dose of tongue-in-cheek comedy to their vibe.

“I is the Lie ” is the brand new single from The Antarctican, released worldwide via all major streaming services on March 16, 2023. The epic seven minute rocker opens on a dark minor-key prog-rock mood. Alex steps to the mic for an emotional soliloquy. In the chorus the beat drops on some heavy, groove-metal riffing. As the track progresses, the band of metal virtuosos expertly maneuver their way through the many moods of their cinematic rocker about the fallacy of individual identity.

"We're talking about the illusory nature of the self in these here lyrics. The song doubles as our doctoral thesis in philosophy, wish us luck for our dissertation!"
