Hailey Patel – New Single & Video

hailey patel

Hailey Patel is an emerging independent recording artist who made her solo professional recording debut in 2019 with the EP Here We Go Again. Although she was still in high school at the time, the record introduced a talented young singer/songwriter with a mature jazz-infused sound. Since then she has released three follow-up singles and has connected with fans around the world.

Now attending college in New York City, Hailey Patel is continuing a musical journey that started when she was just 14 years-old. Although her debut was performed by an organic ensemble of live musicians, Hailey’s sound has evolved over time. Her most recent work incorporates elements of pop, r&b and EDM.

“Do You Think About Me” is the latest single from Hailey Patel, available worldwide via all major streaming services. Rolling on a smooth mid-tempo groove, the song spins syncopated percussion and jazzy electric piano chords into an exotic and soulful pop vibe. On the mic the singer offers an open letter to her ex, with all of the sexy suggestions implied by the song’s title.

Hailey Patel

Where are you from?

I grew up in New Hope, PA. I went to high school in Princeton, NJ. Currently, I am in NYC (student at Pace University) working on my Arts and Entertainment Management Degree.

How long have you been making music?

I have been making music since I was 14. I wrote my first song with 2 friends in a dorm room at Berklee College of Music during a songwriting program.

Who are the musicians involved in your project?

In the most recent project, do you think about me, it is just me and my producer J. Chris Griffin. Originally, I wrote the lyrics and melodies then brought these ideas to Chris to help produce.

Who are your biggest musical influences?

I have a wide variety, but I love Aretha Franklin, Ariana Grande, and Mahalia. They’re probably the most that I look up to and take inspiration from.

What is your greatest non-musical influence?

I get a lot of influences from movies and books most of the time. Sometimes walking around in New York City or going to art galleries influence me. I get a lot just from around me, even when I’m in class. I just always find myself inspired and writing constantly.

What inspired you to create this project?

I wrote this song during COVID. Everything was kinda moving very slowly at the time. I was adapting to being a freshman in college which during a pandemic was not very fun. I decided, since I wasn’t getting to know anyone at school, I would call up my friends and talk about their experiences, lifestyles, new events going on and etc. So, this song derived from one of those talks that I had with a friend.

What are your plans for the future (musically)?

I have a lot more coming. At this point, it’s just me trying to get the confidence to release more. The stuff I have in my pocket is a wide range too. Some is alot like this release and others are very different. Currently, I’m still trying to find my sound. For the future, we’ll see what happens next!

Is there anything else you would like to say?

Just keep an eye out for me!
