CDUB is the professional name of emerging independent hip-hop artist, Chris Cockrell. He made his solo professional recording debut in 2021 with the single “You Ain’t Hard (Freestyle)”. That track introduced a skilled emcee from Lawton, Oklahoma with verbose old-school lyrical flow.
Since his debut, the prolific Cdub has released an EP, two albums and five singles. His latest is the nine-song LP Locked In, released worldwide via all major streaming services on April 15, 2023.
“Let’s Get it” is the opening track and the new single from Locked In. The track opens with a short koto and flute intro before the beat drops on a laid-back and funky mid-tempo hip-hop groove. On the mic, the rapper drops a smart, rhythmic and rapid-fire freestyle. The beat takes a cool turn in the bridge with a classic breakbeat and a jazzy bass run. Cdub matches that twist with some crafty phrasing.
