We first heard from Jay Korner back in June of 2021 upon the release of his single “Will You Save Me”. That track introduced The Static Dive readers to a multi-talented Swedish singer, songwriter, drummer, producer and bandleader. A veteran of numerous bands over the years, he made his solo debut in 2020.
Jay Korner loves the funk. His sound is rich mix of classic soul and r&b grooves inspired by funk legends like The Meters, Stevie Wonder, Sly Stone, Commodores, Parliament-Funkadelic, and Betty Davis, as well as modern acts like Dumpstaphunk, Lettuce, The New Mastersounds, Neal Francis, and Orgone. He works with a team of studio virtuosos he pairs his feel good groove with an uplifting and inspirational message.
“High On Life” is the latest single from Jay Korner, released worldwide via all major streaming services on April 14, 2023. The track opens with a blues-infused Stratocaster riff before the beat drops on a full funk ensemble. Horns, Hammond organ, clavinet, guitar, bass, drums, and congas lay down an infectiously fun groove, designed for dancing our cares away. On the mic, Jay serves up some soulful advice for finding the joy in life.
