“Forgive it All” is the brand new single from Reece Van Schalkwyk, released worldwide via all major streaming services on April 7, 2023. Strings and ambient synths open the track on an ethereal scene. The singer steps to the mic for a soulful and self-affirming soliloquy about trauma, healing and forgiveness.
Reece Van Schalkwyk delivers an emotionally powerful performance in this tale of hardship and perseverance. After a gospel-infused intro, the melancholy pop ballad lands on a bluesy downtempo 6/8 groove. The singer trades bars with a smoking lead guitar as both build the anthem to its climactic ending.

7 Questions with Reece Van Schalkwyk

Where are you from?
South Africa
How long have you been making music?
I have been creating music and writing songs since I was a child – age 9. My entire life I have been performing for many different events and recording music, as I grew up in a musical, artistic family.
Who are the musicians involved in your project?
There is one guitarist who did a live recording for the song – his name is Ross Rowley. He is absolutely brilliant and worked with me and the music-producer personally, to create a solid structure with the guitar. It came out perfectly due to his talent.
Who are your biggest musical influences?
Celine Dion. She will always be my ultimate choice when it comes to a musical influence. Her technique and delivery of any song is always technically perfect with the right amount of emotional quality. I truly admire her.
What inspired you to create this project?
My deep desire to get over my irrational fears, along with my raging passion for speaking my truth through music, in ways that no one else can.
What are your plans for the future (musically)?
I fully intend to be in music and entertainment for a long time, as it is the only thing that feels right to me and my personality. Music is something that effortlessly flows through me, so I cannot ever escape my calling, and I love it.
Is there anything else you would like to say?
I have learned in a very short period of time, that the only thing which can actually bring you a long-lasting fulfillment in life, is when you learn how to forgive everything which caused you to suffer in the past. If someone never learns to do that, they will always be living with burdens which they cannot let go of. In order to move forward, we must have the will to forgive. And this is exactly what my song is about.
