Corm!! is the musical persona of Dr. Jason Cormier. By day, he works as a world-renowned neurosurgeon. When not repairing synapses, the multi-talented musician is doctoring beats, dropping fire remixes and his own original EDM tracks from his home studio in Lafayette, Louisiana. He cites a broad range of influences from hip-hop luminaries like Run DMC, Jazzy Jeff, and Lil John to cutting edge producers like DJ Diesel, Skrillex, Diplo, Aoki, Tiesto, and more.
He got his start in high school as the DJ of a hip-hop group. The crew eventually split up but have remained friends. As Jason went on to study medicine, his bandmates continued to work in the biz. Carl “Groove” Martin formed the platinum R&B group SHAI, and Marcus Lyle Brown became an actor and the CEO of Believe Entertainment. Corm!! debuted in 2020 with the twelve-song album Pandemic, a mostly instrumental mix of pop and hip-hop infused EDM.
Corm!! is the eclectic producer’s brand new self-titled EP, released worldwide via all major streaming services on March 17, 2023. The doctor DJ embraces his Delta roots on the set. The record features three genre-bending collaborative EDM remixes of modern country hits.
The EP opens with a cover of the 2010 Jason Aldean smash “Dirt Road Anthem”. Corm!! is joined on the track by Nashville duo Boomtown Saints and Georgia-based country singer/rapper Colt Ford. The team transforms the country classic into an infectious progressive house jam with a healthy dose of hip-hop freestyle.
On “Till You Get There”, Corm!! injects country crooner and LGBTQ activist Ty JHerndon’s inspirational hit with a celebratory deep house groove. The song’s uplifting tropical vibe makes it the perfect beach party tailgate jam. The record closes with an anthemic pop mix of Boomtown Saints’s 2022 single “All Trucks Go To Heaven.”
