Brody Brown is a veteran of the international hip-hop scene. He grew up in the genre’s legendary West Coast home, Compton, California. With the guidance of his musical grandmother, as a child Brody learned to play a number of instruments including bass, guitar, percussion, piano and organ.
The multi-instrumentalist got his big break when he was just 14 years old, when chart-topping R&B star Bobby V asked him to play bass in his touring band. In the years that followed, Brown worked with superstars like Lil Wayne, Chris Brown, T.I. and Katherine McPhee. He even played bass on and co-wrote the Grammy-nominated hit “Grenade” from Bruno Mars’ debut album. Now the multifaceted artist is taking his place at center stage.
“Eyes on Me” is the second single and video from Brody Brown’s debut album The Kickback, released January 27, 2023, via all major streaming services. Minor-key ambient synths and psychedelic vocal samples open the track and set an ominous scene as the singer steps to the mic. He sings and raps about the perils and paranoia that come with success as the beat drops on a laid-back downtempo 808 groove.
