Nick Bohensky and Max N’Adamo are two veteran independent artists who have been making music together for over twenty years. In the 1990s the pair were bandmates in a string of popular Northeast alternative rock/metal bands including, Bald Red Lady, Optigone, and The 16 Deadly Improvs. In 2021 the duo launched a brand new collaborative project.
Like musicians around the world, Nick Bohensky and Max N’Adamo found themselves gig-less during COVID lockdown. They took that bit of unexpected downtime to complete their debut EP. Their sound is a moody and experimental genre-fluid vibe inspired by classic alternative, electronic, amd dark-wave.
The Imphilosible EP is the debut release from Nick Bohensky and Max N’Adamo, available worldwide via all major streaming services. On the four song collection, the duo blends a modern alternative rock aesthetic with prog-rock complexity, and a healthy dose of retro electronic music.
Nick (guitars, keyboards, programming, bass) and Max (vocals, lyrics) composed and produced all of the songs on the EP. They are joined by an assortment of collaborators on various tracks including, Dušan Beňadik (drums), Jeff Bridi (bass), Kelly O’Donahue (flugelhorn), and Dave Wilson (drums). Throughout the record, they mix live organic rock instrumentation with modern synths and the legendary Mellotron sampler.
From the lo-fi hip-hop and alt-rock psychedelia of “Forwards-Backwards” to the goth undertones of “”Gestalt”, Nick Bohensky and Max N’Adamo create surreal scene. Within that framework they drop prog-rock black-light moods (“Syllogism”) and dark experimental alternative electronic explorations (“The Imphosible”). The record is a precursor to the band’s debut full-length album, due later this year.
