Oddits Drop New Nebraska Indie

oddits

Oddits are an emerging independent alt-rock band who made their professional recording debut in 2020 with a self-titled four-song EP. That record introduced Andrew Sorensen (bass, lead vocals), Kyle Thomas (guitar, vocals), and Adrian Choate (drums, vocals). Friends since childhood, the trio first started making music together eight years ago when they were still in middle school.

Since their debut, Oddits have released two EPs and a couple of standalone singles. The Nebraska natives recently relocated from their hometown of Blair to Lincoln, the State capital. Theirs is a cool mix of modern indie, 90s alternative, and 80’s college rock. The band cites indie-rock heroes The Strokes as a significant influence on their sound.

Validation is the brand new EP from Oddits, released worldwide via all major streaming services on May 26, 2023. Six months in the making, the six-song collection finds the band at the top of their game. From the Nirvana-meets-REM opener “Dance Ya Dig” to the Mazzy Star-esque melancholy dream-pop of “Alero”, the band weaves decades of alt-rock influences into their modern indie sound.

The EP’s title track alternates between an introspective rock vibe and a cool disco punk-funk groove. They guys add a touch of jazz to tracks like the loungey “On & On” and the dreamy “To Your Sunrise”. And “Solidago” is a groovy Secret Agent Man-style jam about the perennial allergen of the title.
