Koopuh is the professional name of emerging singer-songwriter Cory Heykoop. The independent recording artist is making his solo debut in 2023. A native of Lowell, Michigan, Cory first started making music in 2020.
In addition to his own original tracks, the prolific producer works as a beat maker for other up and coming artists. Inspired by his faith and his close friends, Koopah makes emotional hip-hop-infused lo-fi emo indie-pop. The eclectic artist cites a broad range of influences including, My Chemical Romance, J Cole , indie hero Russ, and even MMA fighter Isreal Adysanya.
“Self-Control” is the debut single from Koopuh, released worldwide via all major streaming services on February 28, 2023. A solo acoustic guitar opens the tune as lo-fi electronic percussion and ambient found sounds paint the edges of the mix. On the mic, the singer offers the melancholy, introspective and soulful soliloquy of a young man looking for direction.
