Ninewords are an emerging modern rock group who first got together in 2019. They are making their international recording debut in 2023 with a unique mix of modern melodic rock, alternative, and heavy metal. Hailing from the south of Germany, the band cites legendary guitar-fueled rocker like Van Halen, Incubus, and Avenged Sevenfold as influential to their sound.
The power trio is comprised of veteran rockers Holger (guitar & vocals), Thilo (drums), and Matze (guitar). Though small in size, the band creates a huge rock sound built on arena-rock power chords and a thunderous rhythm section. The musical partners are bound by friendship, a shared vision, and a mutual love of all things rock.
Defending Myself is the debut EP from ninewords, released worldwide via all major streaming services on March 3, 2023. The five-song collection is a showcase for the definitive style and sound this creative team has cultivated. From the 90’s alternative inspired tale of love and angst “For You” to the melancholy introspection of “Greatness”, the band delivers arena-worthy anthemic rock & roll.
The group dives deeply into heavy metal waters with the crunching power chords, shredding solos, and gutteral vocals of “Blind”. An epic art-rock introduction opens “Clouds” before the groove lands on the rhythmic dark pop/rock power ballad.They follow with the heavy groove metal riffs and contemplative alternative rock of “My Way Home”.
