We first heard from Keith Randall last year upon the release of his five-song solo debut EP I Feel it Too. That record introduced The Static Dive readers to a talented guitar player and multi-instrumentalist composer/producer from Hershey, Pennsylvania. His sound is a mellow and melodic jazz-infused, genre-fluid instrumental groove.
Working in collaboration with his equally talented saxophonist/violinist wife Sonya, in the past year the prolific producer has released three EPs, a single, and the full-length album Aspire. The duo also performs together live, touring throughout the Northeast as Keith & Sonya. On his latest release, Randall takes a fresh look at two previously released tracks, and introduces a brand new composition.
The Moonlight and You is the new extended-play single from Keith Randall, released worldwide via all major streaming services on June 19, 2023. The three-song set includes newly remixed and remastered versions of two tracks from Aspire, “The Moonlight and You” and “Catching Feelings, Catching Fire”.
The record opens on “The Moonlight and You,” a beautiful downtempo smooth Jazz ballad. Keith’s guitar sets the scene for this dreamy love song. Sonya, is both the tune’s muse and its soloist as her beautiful saxophone completes the intimate and romantic portrait.
“Catching Feelings, Catching Fire” adds a cool Latin groove to Randall’s organic vibe. Keith’s nylon-stringed guitar rides a chilled club beat as Sonya’s horns paint the edges of the mix. The record closes on the brand new composition, “Flirting in November”. The song is an upbeat jazz/pop instrumental, which the composer says is indicative of the duo’s new stylistic direction.
