Torben Tornado is an emerging independent electronic music composer and producer who made his solo professional recording debut in 2022 with the single “Cuba Mass”. That track introduced an eclectic recording artist with a unique sound that fuses elements of techno, Frenchcore, dubstep, EDM, and drum and bass. Although he only recently began releasing his song to the world, the German producer’s musical journey began years earlier.
At 13 years-old, Torben Tornado suffered from severe depression, which doctors ultimately realized was being caused by a brain tumor. The removal of the tumor was a transformative experience for the young man, and ultimately inspired him to pursue a musical life. Since his debut, the prolific producer has released three singles. Last year’s “Levitator” connected with EDM fans worldwide, clocking over 16K spins on Spotify, and even earning a spot on the playlist at a musical festival in the artist’s hometown.
“Bass Flux” is the latest single from Torben Tornado, released worldwide via all major streaming services on June 30, 2023. A staccato progression of piano arpeggios opens the track. Strings and ambient synths expand the mix as the beat drops on an uptempo dubstep-infused groove. A frenetic mix of vocal samples, analog synths, and syncopated electronic percussion ensues. It’s a wild ride, pairing a modern EDM production with an experimental edge reminiscent of electronic pioneers like The Art of Noise and Yello.
