Ross Davis’ New Americana ‘This Town’

ross davis

Ross Davis is a veteran independent recording artist who made his solo professional debut in 2012 “Better Late Than Never”. That record introduced a talented singer-songwriter with a sound rooted in the great traditions of American folk music and Americana. A native of Indianapolis, Indiana, Ross is a multi-instrumentalist who writes sometimes personal, and often introspective observations on life, love, and society.

Since his debut, the prolific songwriter has released two albums, an EP, and six singles. He has performed live throughout the Midwest and Southern United States. Along the way, Ross Davis has worked with notable artists like Grammy-winning guitarist Brent Mason. and Juno Award-nominated Canadian musician Annabelle Chvostek.

This Town is the brand new EP from Ross Davis, released worldwide via all major streaming services on June 19, 2023.  The four-song set is a nostalgic ride that pays tribute to the singer’s heroes, both personal and musical. The record opens with the title track. Acoustic and electric guitars ride a downtempo beat as the singer offers a touching alt-country ode to generations past.

Davis gives a nod to the Fab Four with a reimagined take on the Lennon-penned and Ringo-sung classic “With a Little Help From My Friends”. Accompanied by an ensemble of Nashville guitars, drums, and a funky bass line, Ross Davis reinvents the iconic psychedelic anthem as an upbeat indie-folk/pop groove.

Kate Wolf’s “Across the Great Divide” receives a similar treatment, as Davis transforms the melancholy folk classic into a catchy mid-tempo pop/rock nugget. The record closes on the Ross Davis original “United We Stand”, an allegorical commentary on the polarized political environment of modern American society.
