SOSOROMEO is an emerging independent band making their professional recording debut in 2023. The Canadian five-piece first got together last year and quickly made a name for themselves in Vancouver’s thriving music scene. Their sound is a live and funky mix of indie-pop, synth-rock, and jam-band energy.
The band cites a broad range of artists as inspiration for their genre-bending sound, from Mother Mother to Alabama Shakes and Mac Miller. The quintet consists of Stevie Wise (keys, vocals), Tyler Lanigan (guitar, vocals), Michael Vanderlans (bass), Matthew Atkins (drums), Troy Anthony Gilmore (guitar, vocals). In just a few months they have made a lasting impression on their scene, sharing the stage with local heavy-hitters like Raincity, Chase The Bear, Cat Madden, and Downtown Mischief.
“Getting High” is the debut single from SOSOROMEO, released worldwide via all major streaming services on August 4, 2023. The track opens on a folky alt-rock vibe as Stevie introduces a wistful relationship post-mortem. A cool organic groove takes shape as the full ensemble enters the mix. Then the chorus lands on a dreamy new wave vibe. Atmospheric vocal harmonies paint the periphery as the track builds to a defiant punk-infused climax.
