JeanRicard is a Haiti-born and Chicago-based citizen of the world, whose musical journey began years ago. At a very young age he toured as a member of the well-known Haitian gospel a capella group, Choeur Celeste. He would later helm a number of popular projects from Germany to the American midwest.
While serving in the United States Army, JeanRicard performed around the world. He currently works as an artist on the roster of SOFAR Sound Chicago. And since 2019, the prolific performer has released nearly a dozen singles of emotionally powerful original pop, hip-hop and neo-soul.
“Penitence” is a recent single from JeanRicard, released worldwide via all major streaming services on February 11, 2023. A somber and wistful ballad, the song finds the singer accompanied by a sparse arrangement of piano, bass, and percussion. Ambient strings, synths, and vocals paint the periphery as the singer delivers a deeply personal and soulful plea, inspired by a recent divorce from his high-school sweetheart.
