Blessup is the professional name of independent hip-hop recording artist, Jeffrey Fabry. The Michigan native is a lifelong music lover who was originally inspired by the Motown sounds of his hometown, Detroit. He would eventually join the military and serve in the Iraq war, and experience that would ultimately influence his music in a very different way.
After returning from war, Blessup turned to music and his faith to help him through the difficult process of healing. Now based in Flint, Michigan, he launched a new solo career earlier this year. Since dropping his wide-distribution debut EP in March, the prolific rapper has released three follow-up singles, and is currently working on his debut solo LP.
“Already Know” is a recent single from Blessup, available worldwide via all major streaming services. Minor-key piano arpeggios open the track with an ominous mood. Soon the beat drops on a low and low trap groove as ambient synths expand across the soundscape. On the mic, the rapper drops a dark and meditative freestyle on good, evil, and the choices we make.
