Arthur’s New NYC Hip-hop ‘Educated Gangster’

Arthur is an emerging independent hip-hop artist who made his solo professional recording debut in 2018 with the single “What Happened”. That track introduced a multifaceted singer, rapper, songwriter, and producer with an eclectic sound that blends elements of pop, hip-hop, and r&b. His broad ranging talents and tastes have earned the young musician the nickname ‘Mr. Versatile’.

In the five years since that first single, Arthur has amassed an impressive volume of work. The prolific Brooklyn native has dropped over three dozen releases, including two full-length albums. His records have ranged in style from emo-trap to slow jams, pop, and old-school. On his latest, the 24 year-old New Yorker leans hard on his hip-hop roots.

Educated Gangster┬áis the brand new EP from Arthur, released worldwide via all major streaming services on July 21, 2023. From the chill trap groove and confident bravado of “Feelin Myself” to the unmistakable Annie sample and rapid-fire chopping freestyle of “Hard Life”, this is a rap record. Although he has done plenty of singing in his career, on “Educated Gangster” Arthur is dropping rhymes. And the emcee has the microphone skills to back them up.

The streets of New York City beat at the heart of the EP, especially on the appropriately titled Envii Benjii collab “New York”, a smooth R&B-infused melodic gangster rap ode to the Big Apple. Throughout the record, Arthur weaves multiple genres and styles into his beats. “Tough Freestyle” matches jazz vibes with a downbeat reggaeton groove, while tracks like “Motivated” and the exceptional “Operation” pair ambient synths with chill trap beats.
