El Jefe is the professional name of emerging independent recording artist, Jeffry Esperance. He made his wide-distribution solo debut in 2022 with the single “Dirty Confession”. That track introduced a multi-talented singer, rapper, and songwriter with a laid-back melodic flow and a taste for downbeat South Florida grooves.
A Haitian-American artist now based in Deerfield Beach, Florida, El Jefe’s sound is a smooth mix of hip-hop, pop, and his own Caribbean roots. Inspired by his musical brothers, the singer first began making music in 2020, as an alternative to the emotional release of gaming. Since then he has released a series of popular singles as both a solo act, and as a featured artist on tracks by artists like Notxryn and Traxx.
“Getaway” is the brand new single from El Jefe, released worldwide via all major streaming services on July 12, 2023. The track opens on a sampled lo-fi guitar playing a melodic chord progression. Soon the beat drops on a laid-back, downtempo, reggaeton-infused groove. On the mic, Esperance raps and sings a tale of love and confusion as he makes sense of his own emotions.
