NorCal native, Lantz Lazwell has earned a reputation from Sacramento to Los Angeles, as a larger-than-life funk/rock guitar maestro. After making a name for himself in his hometown, he moved south to swim with the big fish. It worked, and for more than a decade Lantz shared stage and studio with the likes of Norwood Fisher (Fishbone) and the godfather of funk himself, George Clinton (Parliament-Funkadelic).
COVID uprooted lives around the world in 2020. For Lantz Lazwell, it was a reason to return home to the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains. Since then he has been lighting up the hot Sacramento music scene with the psychedelic funk band that bears his name. Now they are getting ready to drop their debut album.
“Killing it” is the brand new single from LAZWELL (formerly Lantz Lazwell & The Vibe Tribe), released worldwide via all major streaming services on August 15, 2023. Lantz and crew are joined by an old friend, the legendary George Clinton. Classic analog synths paint the edges of the mix as a live bass and drum rhythm section lays down a slow and funky groove. The two frontmen share the mic as they deliver their ‘living for the rhythm’ manifesto, before Lantz takes the jam beyond the stratosphere with some smoking acid-rock guitar.
