2deege is an emerging independent hip-hop recording artist from New Haven, Connecticut. After dropping some early tracks on SoundCloud and creating a buzz in his hometown, he hooked up with independent record label, Boundgang Inc. He made his professional solo debut in 2020 with the single “Dhum Great ”.
That track introduced a skilled emcee with a verbose lyrical style and a taste for downtempo 808 beats. Since then, the prolific 2deege has released an impressive volume of work, including nine singles, two EPs, and the joint LP Step Brothers with Prince Ceeno. He cites groundbreaking hip-hop artists like 2 Chainz, Tay-K, and Juice WRLD as the inspiration for his sound.
Homecourt Advantage is a recent EP from 2deege, available worldwide via all major streaming services. The six-song collection is an excellent showcase for the talented young artist’s unique vision. He pairs a rapid-fire freestyle flow with chilled beats built on elements of trap, lo-fi, and boom-bap.
From the cinematic piano intro of “Really Don’t Make A Difference”, to the hard “Now I’m the Man”, 2deege creates a vibe that is both modern and retro. Classic 808 beats drop old-school and modern trap-infused grooves. On the mic, he flexes his freestyle skills with a knack for clever wordplay.
There is a psychedelic vibe that runs through the EP. Tracks like “Major Leagues” and the darker “Real Life Groupie” paint trippy sonic scenes as 2deege rhymes about the road to fame, and its hazards. Whether rhyming about the grind, or the money and women that come with success, 2deege delivers his non-stop bars in a cool and confident flow.
