We first heard from deadwater in July upon the release of their debut single “Purple Crosses”. That track introduced readers of The Static Dive to talented singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist, Alex O. Hailing from Virginia, he specializes in a guitar-driven rock & roll built on elements of classic rock and alternative.
In just four months since his debut, the prolific producer has released six singles and has connected with fans worldwide on popular tracks like “Shattered”. The DMV native cites legendary bands like Alice in Chains and Pink Floyd as inspiration for his genre-bending sound. His latest introduces a touch of electronica into the mix.
“Love Me Hate Me” is the latest single from deadwater, released worldwide via all major streaming services on October 13, 2023. A grungy solo guitar opens the track as Alex steps to the mic. He delivers an esoteric meditation on self worth as the beat drops on a med-tempo alt-rock groove. Haunting backing vocals and psychedelic guitar licks paint the periphery as new wave keys add a touch of Joy Division to the Seattle-inspired vibe.
