BB Stevens is a veteran New Jersey rocker who has worn many hats throughout his career. As a singer, songwriter, producer, promoter, YouTuber, blogger, and novelist, he has worked the music and entertainment industries from every angle. Now the rock & roll renaissance man (formerly known as Stevie B) is launching the next phase of his storied career, with a new name and a new record label.
A Hoboken native, BB Stevens began his professional musical journey while still in high school. He signed his first major label deal at sixteen, and he’s been making music ever since. Along the way he has collaborated with everyone from Madonna to Saving Abel vocalist Scotty Austin. Now signed to Stryker Records, an imprint label of the Universal Music Group Ingrooves family, he recently made his debut as BB Stevens.
“Spirit Be Gone” is the brand new video and single from BB Stevens’ debut EP Not My Monkeys, released worldwide via all major streaming services on September 29, 2023. Organ and acoustic guitar open the track on ominous minor-key tone as a bluesy slide guitar paints the edges of the mix. Soon the bass and drums land on a downtempo gothic Americana groove. On the mic, the singer recalls similarly gravel-voiced poets like Leonard Cohen and Tom Waits, as he offers the haunting tale of an ex who refuses to let go.
