When In May is an emerging American indie band making their debut in 2023. Brett Fitzpatrick launched the project on New Year’s Eve 2022, with a vision to create a musical group that also incorporated his love of visual and performance art. He was soon joined by fellow Texas musician and songwriter Keon Nahali, and a band was born.
The When In May sound is a genre-fluid vibe that incorporates elements of pop, rock, jazz, and R&B. They have spent much of the year writing, recording, and performing their rapidly growing catalog of original material. In October they dropped the first of many new releases to come.
“Cheap Red Wine” is the debut single from When In May, released worldwide via all major streaming services on October 27, 2023. The songwriting/production team of Fitzpatrick and Nahali are joined on the track by a tight rock ensemble featuring Mathias Lunde (guitar), Luca Giachi (bass), Nate Barnes (drums), and Hugo Lee (sax). On the mic, Brett shares the dysfunctional details of a substance-abused and doomed relationship as the band lays down a funky indie-pop groove.
