Christina Qu is an emerging independent singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist making her solo professional recording debut. The classically trained 16 year-old musician grew up playing both flute and viola, the latter in her high school orchestra. She recently introduced her music to the streaming world with a series of covers posted to social media.
A native of Toronto, Christina’s Qu’s sound is a dreamy mix of jazz, avant-garde art pop, and dream-pop. The talented teen plans to study classical composition once she graduates high school. In recent months she has been chronicling her musical journey on her YouTube channel.
“Bird Falling From the Sky” is the debut single from Christina Qu, released worldwide via all major streaming services on December 18, 2023. Qu opens the track on piano, as saxophone (Manuel Trabucco), drums (Chris Wallace), flute, and bass all slide into the mix. The singer steps to the mic with a jazzy meditation on the fear and possibilities of an uncertain future as her words fall dreamily between the lilting melodies and hypnotic syncopation of an ethereal downtempo groove.
