Noah Whiteside – New York Blues (#32)

noah whiteside

Noah Whiteside is an emerging independent singer/songwriter with a timeless sound. He made his solo professional recording debut in 2020 with the single “Bury Me on Phila Street”. That song introduced a talented young musician inspired by pioneering songwriters of the 60s and 70s like Neil Young, Warren Zevon, and Alex Chilton.

Originally from idyllic Saratoga Springs in upstate New York, Noah Whiteside began playing over fifteen years ago. He cut his teeth in a series of Northeast indie bands before going solo. Although his earliest material experimented with modern lo-fi and electro indie-pop, in 2023 Noah went back to basics with a series of organic indie-folk tunes that harken back to days of AM radio and bell bottoms.

“New York Blues (#32)” is the brand new single from Noah Whiteside, released worldwide via all major streaming services on January 12, 2023. A melodic finger-picked guitar opens the tune as the beat lands on a mellow mid-tempo acoustic groove. A steel guitar adds a touch of Nashville to the mix as Noah offers his wistful homesick lament.

"This song is about coming to peace with unexpected change. Specifically it's regarding my re-location to New York from Boston and all the culture shock that comes with that, but I think the feeling of being a small fish in a big pond is fairly universal."
