EDGE Drop First New LP In 15 Years

EDGE

EDGE is a veteran alternative rock band making a comeback in 2024. They made their debut back in 1996. That’s when Pearland, Texas teenage rockers Nolan J. Vander Haagen (guitar), Alex Serrano (drums) and bassist Brooks Gage (bass) first started gigging around the Houston scene.

From 1999 through 2013 the band released three albums. Along the way, their fluid roster included names like Carl Beatty, Caveh Masum, and Tommy Vanos. They toured throughout the southwest, sharing the stage with acts Fuel, Hoobastank, Flyleaf, Earshot, Pressure 4-5, Pushmonkey, Blue October and The Hunger. Vander Haagen even recorded some guitar for Ice Cube.

A couple of years ago, the members of EDGE started getting the itch to play together again. After a 2019 side project, original members Serrano and Vander Haagen recruited Vanos and Beatty. The band was back.

Latency, Vol. 1 is the brand new full-length album from EDGE, released worldwide via all major streaming services on January 5, 2024. The eight-song set reintroduces a group of seasoned alternative rock musicians who have not missed a beat during their long hiatus. It is a sound inspired by their alt-rock roots, but also shaped by time and the wisdom that comes with it.

From the wall of guitars that introduces “Until We Meet Again”, to anthemic grunge-metal “When the Dust Settles”, EDGE pairs classic alternative rock vibes with morn production and virtuosic chops. They conjure an earl-2000s Incubus groove on tracks like “Undefeated”, and then spin in a bit of Puddle of Mudd-style pop-metal on tracks like the modern rock torch song “Sapphire” and riff-rocker “You were the Last One”.

It’s not all power chords and crash cymbals. This is a talented and versatile quartet of players. They mix some Police-style syncopation into tracks like “Start All Over” and the cool experimental groove of “Home”, before slowing things down for the acoustic heartbreaker “Goodbye to Your Eyes”.
