Zachary Campos is an eclectic creator who blurs the lines between musical genres. With his latest single, he adds High Literature to that stew. The track continues a remarkably prolific 2024 for the multifaceted singer, songwriter, and rapper.

A veteran of the underground NorCal music scene, San Jose emcee Zachary Campos debuted his current solo project on March 22 of this year. In the six weeks since, he has released three singles, an EP, and a full-length album. With influences ranging from Kendrick Lamar to The Beatles, he has crafted a unique sound built on equal parts sold-school hip-hop, punk, and indie-rock.

“Trial” is the brand new single and video from Zachary Campos, released worldwide via all major streaming services on May 3, 2024. Inspired by author Franz Kafka’s classic novel The Trial, the tune tells the story of bank employee Josef K who battles against charges for which he was wrongfully arrested and put on trial. An ensemble of bass, drums, acoustic, and electric guitars set the scene with a mid-tempo surf-infused indie-rock groove.

"It’s a departure from my usual sound, with the implementation of the use of an overdriven guitar, a smooth Paul McCartney inspired bass line, a soft rock drum sound, and clear double tracked vocals. “Trial” is my masterpiece."
