Ghost In The Machine Drops New Heartbreaker Deconstruction

ghost in the machine

We first heard from Ghost in the Machine back in October of last year upon the release of their EP Enemy of the State. That record introduced The Static Dive readers to the veteran songwriting/production team of C4 and Face. The Orlando duo have been creating genre-defying rock-infused electronic music for more than twenty-five years.

In their tenure, Ghost in the Machine’s music has connected with fans around the world. Their songs have appeared in major network shows like ABC’s “Mistresses”, major motion pictures like “The Marine 4: Moving Target”, and brands like Red Bull, and Monster Energy. They have produced eight full-length albums, and in recent years have released a string of popular singles and EPs.

“Heartbreaker (Hurt)” is the brand new single from Ghost in the Machine, released worldwide via all major streaming services on February 14, 2024. The track is one half of an innovative experimental two-song EP in which the pair deconstruct and reinvent Pat Benatar’s 1979 pop/rock classic. An acoustic guitar opens the track, as dark ambient synths and electronic percussion paint the edges of the mix. The singer steps to the mic and delivers a whispered and tormented reading of the iconic tune. On the subsequent ‘Broken’ version of the song, the band digs deep into a world of dark industrial synths and heavy metal guitars.
